Jamie Sullivan is the preacher's daughter. You can tell its her because she always carries her moms bible, a brown cardigan, and has always worn her hair in a bun until recently. A lot of people at school pick on her because she is a goody-two shoes and the people that pick on her are Landon Carter's friends. She dosent date Landon Carter until later in the book and when they start getting really close she tells him that she has leukemia and is dying. Through all of the sickness she still has Landon and her faith.

Landon Carter is Worth Carter, a congressman's son. At first he was a cool kid that is until the Christmas play and he fell in love with Jamie Sullivan. Being the cool kid, he is friends with everybody. When Jamie tells Landon that she has leukemia, he gets angry at first when she didnt tell him before but then Jamie calmly explains to him "I do not need to be angry with god." Landon stays with her and makes Jamie's one wish come true, to get married in a church. A few months after the wedding Jamie left Landon with only a bible and the memory's that they shared.

Reverend Hegbert Sullivan is Jamie's father, the preacher. His wife died at Jamie's birth. Reverend dosent really approve of Landon dating Jamie at first because of Landons past. Which Landon picked on Reverend, Jamie and he just really wasnt a nice kid. When he realizes that Landon has finally grown up and not about the foolish games, he lets Landon marry his beautiful daughter.
Worth Carter is a congressman and is Landon Carter's dad. Worth Carter wants Landon to have the childhood that he had and there is only one problem he is never home. When they start to see eye to eye is when Worth Carter pays all of Jamie's doctor bills and he pays for home health care.

Eric Hunter is Landon's best friend. They were best friends even though Eric picked on Jamie. He dosent talk to Landon as much as he usually does because of Jamie. When they tell Eric that Jamie has leukemia he goes by Jamie's house and tells her that he is sorry for all the things that he said.
